Argument paper

I like researching a topic that I am interested in. Writing a paper for it can be hard. I don't like APA style campared to MLA format. But, that is probably because I'm so used to doing MLA. The paper was a little frustrating to get it the right length. 6 pages was a struggle. I think over all my paper was good.

more I would like to know about debating

I love when classes have practice debates. One side of a argument vs the other side. They are usually very fun and are good practice.

I would also like to watch a serious debate on a certain topic.

I would like to see examples of previous debate papers.

Audience blog

The audience for my paper is a man just graduating from college and trying to start a family. James Doe I will call him. James is 24 years own and married his girlfriend toward the middle of his senior year in college, he has gotten a internship at a well respected law firm and his wife is working at the local hospital. He is trying to decide for himself if gun control is necessary. James is trying to decide if he himself needs a handgun to defend his new family. He wants to know if it is right for each person to purchase a weapon. James already has previous knowledge with firearms as his dad and him went hunting a lot when he was in high school.
James is wondering if in this world firearm control is needed. I intend to enlighten him of the effects of gun control and show him examples of what it has done. I hope for James to be able to make a logical decision of what he thinks after reading my paper. I wish to show him that everyone has the right to defend themselves and there families from harm and danger.

last argument

My dad believed that I had taken the ear piece that connects to his cell phone. He believed that I took it with myself down to Mankato and when I returned home two weeks later I acted like I had just found it laying on the floor(which I had). I told him I had found his missing earpiece in the computer room on the floor behind the table. He said that he had searched the computer room and found no such ear piece and also claimed to never had been in the computer room. My counter claim was that the ear piece had been missing for over 2 weeks and I recall seeing him in the computer room with it, also what reason would I have for taking a ear piece that probably does not work with my phone. We never resolved the argument I just walked away.

Logical Fallacies

Its hard for me to think which Logical Fallacies that I use the must. I often thought while I was research my Fallacies how I use it. I use Red Herring when I am either in trouble or in a embarrassing situation and try to switch the subject of the conversation. I try to include a topic that is irrelevant to the conversation to distract the person I am talking to and make them think about that. I have used it on my friend before when we where discussing a embarrassing subject, I asked him to stop but he continued so instead I asked him a question and tried to make him forget about the original subject. I believe Red Herring is the Fallacie that I use the most.

personal essay

I liked the personal essay more then the last essay. I knew what I was writing about alot better. I did not like sharing my story with the people in my class it was kinda embarrassing. I think my paper is ok, I think it was the best example of a life changing event I could think of. I knew my rough draft had alot of spelling errors and I think I fixed all of them in my final draft. I believe I did a very good job on my paper and I hope my grade reflects the same.

my experience helping friends

I went in to eat late Sunday night after getting back from a wedding in Duluth to Culvers in Chaska where I worked during the school year and summer as a full time manger. I found that my friend who is also a manger was struggling that day because many had not shown up to work. My friend told me he was having the worst night ever, I asked him if he would like me to work and help out. I hadn’t worked in a long time and I did not even have my uniform but I could not watch as my friend and the crew working that night suffered do to the lack of good experienced workers. I called my dad and asked him to bring my uniform while I helped out. I went got a apron took someone’s hat I found in the back and went up front in my plaid shirt and blue jeans and punched in. I worked for four hours that night taking care of closing manger details as my friend josh worked on closing the kitchen. The owner Mark was surprised to see me working because he knew that I was In college and that I had class to attend early the next day. Not to mention a hour drive to look forward to the next morning. I stayed to 10:30 that night helping out everyone and when I went to leave I thought and I would check and see how Josh was doing he said that he could never thank me enough for helping that night and said he was looking forward to the next time I came back from Mankato.

my first memory

My first memory that I can recall was being in front of a cake and I remember my dad standing on the other side of the cake he had a mustache back then. looking back I think that was my 3rd birthday because I remember there being three candles on the cake. I remember my mom and dad both blowing out the candles on the cake and everyone seemed happy. All I know is I was really confused on whats going on. I think that is when I got the blanket that still remains in my room today. Alot of the memory is blurry on what happened, it is mostly flashes on the one event. We could of been celebrating my sisters birthday because I later found out around the age of 10 that the blanket in my room was given to sister on her birthday. It just happens that I liked it more and took it from her.

exigence

The last time I truly felt the need to feel exigence was after viewing the new batman movie the Dark Knight. The movie was truly good I told all of my friends how I thought the acting by Heath Ledger was amazing. How the movie was two and a half hours long but each moment was better than the last. I tried my hardest to get all I know to experience one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. I went to go see the movie a second time with a large group of friends so that we all could enjoy the movie experience that is the Dark Knight.

first day at Mankato State

The day was warm, I was tired from the hour long drive and staying up all night in excitement for the new day to come. But finally I reached Mankato state the place I would be calling home for the next 8 months. I was in luck for my new dorm was in the Julia Sears building, a brand new building with new features such as A/C and shared bathrooms. Moving in was very quick it required little work because my room was on the first floor not too far away from the main doors. With the help of my family moving was easy and we had alot of free time. We spent the day exploring the new city of Mankato and dined at the green mill we discovered while there we talked of the new year to come and all the fun to be had. I knew then it would be a good year.
